Global Sacramento is proud to participate in the U.S. Department of State’s International Visitor Leadership Program (IVLP), the United States’ premier professional exchange program.
Through IVLP, emerging and established leaders from around the world visit Sacramento to exchange ideas, build professional relationships, and experience American institutions and communities firsthand.
As California’s capital, Sacramento offers visitors a unique perspective. Global Sacramento connects international delegates with state and local government leaders, businesses, universities, nonprofit organizations, policy experts, and community leaders across the region. These conversations provide opportunities to explore shared challenges, exchange expertise, and develop relationships that extend well beyond each visit.
The International Visitor Leadership Program (IVLP) is an initiative of the U.S. Department of State, delivered in partnership with Global Ties U.S. in Washington, D.C. and community-based organizations across the United States. As a proud member of the Global Ties U.S. network, Global Sacramento helps bring the program to life locally by welcoming international leaders to California’s capital region and connecting them with Sacramento-area professionals, organizations, and communities.
IVLP participants are nominated and selected by U.S. Embassies around the world and represent a wide range of fields, including government, business, education, media, nonprofit leadership, and civil society. Many are emerging leaders in their countries who are helping shape the future of their communities and professions.
During a typical three-week exchange, participants travel to several U.S. cities, meeting with professional counterparts, exchanging ideas, and experiencing American life and culture firsthand. Each program is designed around the visitors’ professional interests while supporting broader U.S. foreign policy objectives.
When Sacramento is part of their journey, Global Sacramento creates a distinctly local experience — connecting visitors with the people, institutions, expertise, and communities that make California’s capital region unique.
