As international exchange and public diplomacy professionals, we create programs that immerse visitors in the Sacramento region’s professional expertise, community, and diverse culture. Through thoughtful program design, strong regional partnerships, and deep knowledge of California’s capital region, we deliver meaningful, high-quality exchanges for visitors and local participants alike.
Building on the longstanding work of Global Ties Sacramento, Global Sacramento continues the region’s participation in the U.S. Department of State’s International Visitor Leadership Program (IVLP), while also developing customized international exchange experiences for organizations and delegations from around the world.
Global Sacramento partners with the U.S. Department of State and national programming agencies to implement the International Visitor Leadership Program (IVLP), the United States’ flagship professional exchange program.
Through IVLP, emerging international leaders visit the Sacramento region to explore critical global issues, exchange expertise with professional peers, and experience American institutions and communities firsthand. Visitors connect with government officials, businesses, nonprofit organizations, universities, and local Citizen Diplomats, gaining new perspectives on the United States while building relationships with leaders across California’s capital region.

Global Sacramento works with the Open World Leadership Center, an arm of the U.S. Congress, to introduce rising leaders of emerging countries to the importance of legislative functions in creating and sustaining democracies. This is done by introducing young foreign leaders to the American democratic systems and free-market operations at the federal, state, and local levels. We coordinate week-long stays for the participants, introducing them to all aspects of American democracy.
