Global Gatherings is Global Sacramento’s series of social, cultural, and community-centered programs designed to bring people together through shared experiences. These events focuses on connection: the food we share, the music we hear, the stories we tell, the games we watch, the art we experience, and the cultures that shape our region.
Sacramento is home to extraordinary international diversity. Global Gatherings celebrates that diversity while creating opportunities for people from different backgrounds to meet, learn, and feel connected.
These events are welcoming, lively, and accessible. Some are educational. Some are social. Some are delicious. Many are all three.
Global Table is a recurring dinner club that visits locally owned international restaurants throughout Greater Sacramento. Each gathering will feature a shared meal, cultural storytelling, and conversation with the owner, chef, or invited community host, as well as cooking tips!
These evenings are not just about eating different cuisines. They are about understanding the stories behind the food: migration, family, memory, history, identity, celebration, and belonging.
Culture Nights combine food, music, sports, art, film, dance, storytelling, and conversation. These programs may be hosted with cultural organizations, museums, universities, restaurants, community groups, or consular partners. This is an evolving program that speaks directly to the interests of individuals and groups in Sacramento and seeks to engage broader community participation in new and enlightening activities, with the added benefit of meeting great people!
Sacramento currently has thirteen Sister Cities from many countries, including Mexico, China, Moldova, and the Philippines.
These events celebrate a sister city or partner region through food, music, art, student exchange stories, business, or other areas of connection, and Sacramento locals will have the opportunity to develop understanding and relationships with the people of our Sister Cities.
