Thoughtful conversations about the world — and Sacramento’s place in it
Global Perspectives is Global Sacramento’s forum for international dialogue, civic learning, and global issue exploration. Through speaker programs, moderated discussions, expert roundtables, webinars, and special events, we bring together residents, students, business leaders, public officials, educators, diplomats, and globally curious community members to better understand the world around us.
Our goal is simple: to make global affairs accessible, relevant, balanced, and connected to life in Greater Sacramento.
This series of roundtable discussions with audience engagement features leading personages including diplomats, political figures, academic notaries, business and community leaders, and other engaging speakers and panelists to offer insight and perspectives on a wide variety of internationally-related topics.
Our first offering in the Series will be ‘Espionage Night: Intelligence, Security, and the Real World of Global Affairs’ in late-Fall of 2026. It will feature former members of the intelligence community sharing their inside stories and unique insights on global espionage.
Great Decisions is produced by the Foreign Policy Association, which has been encouraging non-partisan discussion on U.S. foreign policy for over 100 years. The programs gives individuals the opportunity engage neighbors in facilitated discussion and learn about some of the most critical global issues facing America today. After the program, the FPA gathers the participants’ feedback to create a national opinion ballot report, which is shared with members of Congress.
The Great Decisions program will meet monthly beginning in January 2027 and will focus on eight topic areas, including the Future of Germany in Europe and the Atlantic World, U.S. – China: the Case for Engagement, and Organized Crime in the Americas.
WorldNow is a monthly podcast engaging the national World Affairs Council network in a variety of discussions with leading figures in world diplomacy, foreign affairs, and journalism. Starting in 2027, Global Sacramento will also be offering a podcast for local perspectives on international issues.
Global Sacramento will be offering a wide variety of events involving our diplomatic community and visiting foreign exchanges that allows Sacramento locals to meet and engage with a wide spectrum of the international diplomatic community. These conversations lead to understanding, relationships, and awareness of other peoples, cultures, and perspectives.
