The Congressional Office for International Leadership (formerly known as the Open World Leadership Center), an agency of the U.S. Congress, will send a delegation of Agricultural Innovation leaders from Central Asia to Sacramento, California, from September 18-25, 2026.
The delegation consists of five professionals and will be accompanied by a bicultural/lingual facilitator and an interpreter. While in Sacramento, the Open World program participants will be hosted by Global Sacramento.

In Sacramento, delegates will explore best practices for agricultural innovation and strengthening rural farming communities. Delegates will meet with Ami Bera’s Congressional District Office Staff (6th district), relevant state agencies and faculty and staff of the Robert Mondavi Institute for Wine and Food Sciences and Agricultural Sustainability Institute at University of California – Davis.
The delegates will tour several farms and facilities across the Greater Sacramento area to learn more about climate-smart agriculture practices and production and export value chains. Additional activities include a cultural day in San Francisco, the Crocker Art Museum, and the Sacramento Farmers’ Market. The delegation will stay in the homes of local residents who serve as hospitality hosts.
More than 31,000 current and future leaders have participated in the Open World program. Open World offers one of the most effective U.S. exchange programs to promote mutually beneficial options for depolarized engagement between future national leaders. It is a unique but no less powerful tool for Congress to engage legislatures in critical regions of the world.
